Etching, End Of A Long Day

Wonderful fine quality etching by Birket Foster titled,

"The moon with cloudless ray", 1859.
For them the moon with cloudless ray
Mounts, to illume their homeward way.

The farm workers after a long day collecting the harvest are now making their way home. It is now dark and the moon is out. The crop still stands waiting for their return on the `morrow. Trees line the field while in the background can be seen the impression of a set of hills. The moon illuminates the clouds and in its fullness gives out much light. The paper is 6 3/4" x 9" with the etching being 4" x 2 3/4" and in

Good condition with some foxing / browning.
