This engraving
shows the entrance to the temple of No Ammon. Carvings of the Pharaoh
can be seen on the walls of the temple with lines of pillars stretching
into the distance. Several Egyptian`s can be seen around the ruins of
the temple. Parts of the temple can be seen around the walls of the temple,
laying torn and discarded into the dust. In the background can be seen
the entrance to the most sacred part of the temple. The engraving is surrounded
by a border drawn in the middle-eastern style colored in gold. This engraving

The
Town of Jericho
Delightful
fine quality steel engraving showing the town of Jericho, circa 1875.
This engraving
shows the ruins of Jericho. A tower can be seen to the left of the engraving
while to the right of the engraving is a collection of tents and other
temporary buildings. Within this shantytown are several Bedouin`s tribesman.
In the background of the engraving is another town on the slopes of the
hill. According to the Bible Jericho was one of the first towns captured
by the Israelites after entering the Promised Land. They circled the town
once a day for six days and on the seventh day for seven times. They the
priests blew trumpets, the army shouted and the walls of the city collapsed.
This enabled the Israelites to storm the city and burn it to the ground.
The engraving is surrounded by a border colored in gold and drawn in the
middle-eastern style. This engraving is 12 1/2" x 10" with the picture

This engraving
shows a view of the Red Sea with the city of Suez in the background. Several
fishing boats are drawn up on the shore after being out to sea fishing.
Several men can be seen around the boats either repairing hulls, nets
or dragging boats up on the shore. The sun can be seen overhead breaking
through some clouds which can be seen moving across the picture. The picture
is surrounded by a decorative border which is drawn in the middle-eastern

Temple
of Thebes
Delightful
fine quality steel engraving showing the great Egyptian temple at Thebes,
c. 1875.
This wonderful
engraving shows the ruined temple of Thebes in Egypt. Four great statues
of the Pharaoh stand guardian to the ruins of the temple. Alas, the guardians
themselves are in a sorry state with some lacking heads or other features
on their body. Around the pillars of the temple, carved to look like papyrus
trees are carvings of the Faro and the Egyptian Gods. Other parts of the
temple lay ruined on the floor. People are walking around the temple admiring
the ruins. The engraving is surrounded by a border colored gold and drawn
in the middle-eastern style. This engraving is 12 1/2" x 10" with the
picture being 5 1/2" x 4".

Noah`s Ark Steel
Wonderful,
fine quality steel line engraving showing a view of Noah`s Ark, c. 1869.
This delightful
engraving shows Noah`s Ark floating amongst the flood waters. Tall mountains
now appear only as small islands amongst the water. The boat is square,
unusual for a ship but the animals, in their pairs, can be made out in
the windows of the ark. The engraving is 10 1/2" x 8".
Good
condition with some foxing / browning around the edges. There are
two waterstains, one along the left edge and one along the bottom edge.
Neither impair the picture.
