| Vision
of Belgium in WW1 Interesting fine quality print of a painting by Bernard Partidge titled, "La Belgique: 1914", circa. 1920. This very emotive scene shows a woman dressed in rags. Her feet are bare and she stands upon the ruined soil of Belgium in 1914. Her head is thrown back with her eyes closed. A look of loss and despair is upon her face. Her arms are outstretched as if asking for aid or lamenting the loss of something or someone. The ground on which she stands is blasted earth and there are cross planted within it, each one marking someone`s grave. A ruined village can be seen in the background of the picture. Colored in black and white this is perhaps more fitting then it would be if it were colored. This is a worthy testimony to those who died in the opening years of the First World War. The print is 8 1/2" x 11". Very
Good + condition. There is a slight tear in the bottom right corner
which does not impair the picture. $19.99 + postage & packaging |
