Inverary Castle Steel Line Engraving drawn by J. P. Neale and engraved by H. Adlard, circa. 1830. This wonderful engraving shows Inverary castle. This multi turreted mock Gothic palace is the family home of the powerful Clan Campbell, the Dukes of Argyll since 1701. Amongst extensive woodlands, the castle is a fine example of early Scottish Baronial style set amid the glorious scenery of Argyllshire. It is an enigmatic building. Inverary Castle has been the seat of the Dukes of Argyll since the early 1400s. The original castle was built in the 15th century by the first Earl of Argyll had been visited by James V in 1533 and Mary Queen of Scots in 1562. It was burnt down by the Marquis of Montrose in 1644. This print is 8" x 5 1/2". Good
condition with some slight browning at the top of the page not impairing
