Madonna
and Child Wonderful print of a painting attributed to Verrocchio titled, "Madonna and Child", In the metropolitan museum of art, New York, 1930. He was one of the founding artists of the Renaissance school and his work proved influential throughout the 16th century. This picture shows the Madonna and Child. The Madonna is portrayed in the clothing of a noble woman of the 16th century. On her head is a small veil with a solid halo, symbol of her divinity, behind her head. She looks down at the child with a look of calm. The child is standing up supported by the hands of the Madonna. Dressed only in swaddling clothes the child's curly hair is surmounted by a solid halo. The background is a typical scene of Italy and is quite common from Renaissance paintings. The print is 8" x 10". Very Good + condition Source:

The Transfiguration of Christ Wonderful print of a painting by Giovanni Bellini, lent from the Royal Brera Gallery Milan, to the exhibition of Italian Art at Burlington House, titled, "The Transfiguration", 1930. This print shows Christ with Moses and the Elijah on either side of him. At his feet are Matthew, Mark and Luke of the Apostles. Christ's hands are raised as he received the Glory bestowed upon him by God. The Apostles at his feet cower as the Glory is bestowed. The background is a natural scene showing the countryside that is more akin to Italy rather than Palestine. The Glory was a blessing bestowed upon God to his Prophets. That is the reason that Moses and Elijah are portrayed as well as Jesus. The Glory has been portrayed to be akin to an awakening rather then as a physical blessing. The print is 10" x 8".
