This delightful map shows Central Europe and the Mediterranean. Various countries are portrayed such as Britain, France, Spain, Germany, Italy, Turkey, Austria-Hungary, Asia Minor, Algeria and Greece. Each country is colored separately so as to ease identification. Within each country various roads, railways, towns and cities are marked along with natural features such as mountains, rivers, lakes and areas of sea. The borders with Africa and Africa are clearly marked as is the longitude and latitude of the area. A scale is included in English Miles, Kilometers and Nautical miles. Two cutaway boxes show the regions around Gibraltar and the Maltese Islands. The map is 18" x 14".

North of France

Interesting, color German map showing the Northern Half of France, circa. 1890.

The various regions of the area are named such as the Somme, Maynne and Cote-Dor. The map is marvelously detailed showing the various towns and cities of the region along with natural features such as rivers, lakes, the English Channel and also areas of high ground. Two cutaway boxes show Brittany, showing natural and man-made features as the main map, whilst the second box shows the City of Paris and its surrounding region. The borders with Germany, Luxembourg, Belgium and Switzerland are also clearly shown. A scale in kilometers is given as well as the scale of the map at 1:750,000 while the cutaway box of Paris is 1:350,000. This large map is 17 1/4" x 22".

Very Good condition. There is a 1" tear along the center fold of the map which does not impair the map in any way.
